So when he handed me a banana, it was almost normal by comparison. And after his banana found its way into my mouth, well… I wish I could say that was where the saga of Miles Chamberson and I ended. MilesI prefer to start every potential relationship with an oddly phallic, edible object.Why, you ask? It’s simple. Watch any woman with a suggestive object and prepare to unlock the secrets of the female psyche. Does she favor it with a secretive little smile? Nymphomaniac. Does she flinch back, only to guiltily grab it a moment later? Cautious, but wild once she opens up. Does she throw it back at your head and score a direct hit, concussing you for two weeks? Softball player. Or, does she pick it up and devour it, inch by inch? Does she slide that bad boy into the hatch and relish every moment of it? If she does, you have yourself a keeper. The recipient of my latest banana was the latter, but there was one glaring problem. Commitment and I had a troubled past. And now my old man, Bruce Chamberson, says there’s only one way I’ll earn my rightful spot in the family business. I’ve got to show him I can stick with something “for once”.Lucky for me, I’ve got just the girl in mind.

This book is a follow up to My Banana, book one in the Objects of Attraction series. It follows Bruce and Natasha's son Miles, who is a combination of his father and his uncle, William. Although not necessary to have read My Banana first, it certainly helps to understand the pressure Miles felt to be perfect like his dad, but to always come up short. Characters from My Banana as well as William's story in Her Cherry, book two of the Objects of Attraction series, make repeated appearances. Miles' cousins move back into the city at the end, hinting at a follow up to His Cherry.Rey North, roughly twenty-two, likes to fix things. The NYU undergrad aspires to be a psychologist, like her late father, so she can help people fix their problems. Toward that effort, she has her sights set on an internship at a prestigious New York City practice that will open doors for her. To earn it, she needs the top grade in all of Professor Boswell's classes for the paper on abnormal behavior. It isn't only her future riding on the internship; with the loss of her father, her sister Penny is growing up without the same opportunities Rey had, so Rey works and saves to help out. To nab the top grade and secure the internship, Rey just needs to find a unique, weird person to write about.Miles Chamberson, roughly thirty, likes a little chaos in his life. Growing up as the son of super successful advertising guru Bruce Chamberson hasn't been easy. He wants to follow in his dad's footsteps but only manages to disappoint. Miles is somewhat okay with routines - which his dad lives for - but his impulse control gets him in a lot of trouble. In some ways he is more like his brilliant but unsteady Uncle Wiliam. He loses interest in women in two weeks or less, so he has never had a relationship. He has managed to work at Markwell, an ad agency like his father's but on a smaller scale, for four years, but in a show of support for the new secretary, he throws a punch at his boss and quits. Blacklisted from advertising, he does the thing he never wanted to do: ask his dad for a job. Based on personal experience, Bruce believes money given is like poison to the recipient. He wants Miles to earn his way to success, and although he is disappointed in Miles, he agrees to give him a job if Myles can demonstrate that he can stick with something.When Rey encounters a man in the ladies room, he seems more than a little off beat. When he shows up in her class, nearly strips, demands a date, and offers her a banana, she knows he would make the ideal subject for her paper. When Miles sees the bathroom girl, he is drawn to her hidden beauty. He dislikes women that demand attention, and Rey's unpretentiousness calls to him. Immediately overcome with jealousy - something unfamiliar to him - he sets his sights on getting her to agree to a first date. It doesn't hurt that he can date Rey and use his new relationship to demonstrate to his dad that he has changed.As Rey gets to know Miles, she discovers his layers and grows to like him in spite of herself. Her repeated failures to confess her motivation consequently cause her little confession to becomes a big problem. Miles is relentless in his pursuit of Rey, finding commitment and patience he never knew he had. Although cognizant of the duality of his motives, he never wavers in believing in his feelings for Rey as genuine.Miles and Rey's story is absolutely hilarious! Miles is exceptional in his enthusiasm, which makes him a perfect match for bringing Rey out of her shell. He helps her to take time to enjoy life; she grounds him. He finds in her the acceptance he desperately needs. The couple's dialogue is laugh out loud funny. Miles' potty mouth is shocking (as is Grammy's), and the sparring between his mottos and philosophy versus Rey's psychology is hugely entertaining. They are a lovely couple and enjoy a cute HEA.There are a few issues that merit mention. First, the ages don't line up with His Banana. With William in his early fifties and Caitlyn in her early thirties, Miles would need to be closer to twenty, not thirty. Twenty-five max. Next, Miles and Rey don't actually spend much time together and he doesn't have a job. Sitting at home doesn't look like a sound approach to convincing his dad he changed. Third, Rey stretches a twenty cent ramen into two meals because she is penny pinching, but elects to pass on a free ride and instead pay for a two hour Uber ride, which makes little sense. She could have passed on the weekend and studied instead, sparing any expense. Additionally, that Miles allowed Rey to take an Uber rather than ride with him seems out of character. Finally, the story drags some in the latter half.Miles and Rey's hilarious journey is a memorable read. It is nicely written, though there are some formatting issues. The plot is fairly simple. The story is character-driven. The characters are wonderfully defined, though there could be more with Rey. Miles is unforgettable - a total riot! Grammy is colorful and adds to the crazy atmosphere. The story is written in first person. The POV alternates between Miles and Rey. I rate this book four stars.I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
